I’ve been short-sighted since my early twenties. At first, it was fun to have glasses. But the expense, lack of peripheral vision whilst driving and general hassle of always carrying glasses started to get me down.
Contact lenses weren’t much better; they would irritate and dry my eyes. So I looked into laser eye surgery.
At my initial appointment examinations were made and measurements taken. Everything was transparently explained and I decided to proceed with LASIK eye surgery.
On the day of the procedure I was very nervous, but the surgeon (Jonathan Carr) was very helpful, friendly and obviously well versed in dealing with nervous patients!
I could not believe how quick it was – at most 40 seconds per eye. I was amazed. I’m not going to lie, it hurt when I got home and my eyes were watering for about 3 hours. But by the next morning, I couldn’t believe the difference in my vision!
It was so exciting; I kept walking around the house looking at things in the distance! The vision did fluctuate a bit over the first week during the healing process, but as I kept to the treatment regime, I did not have any issues.
And now, almost 3 years later, I still love my eyesight. Driving is much easier; I don’t have to worry about carrying glasses with me everywhere I go and sports are much easier without having to wear glasses or contact lenses.
