Olivia Deborah Bowen in Chelmsford, Essex is an English reality television personality and model. She came second on Love Island in 2016, with Alex Bowen. In 2017, they became engaged and she featured on an episode of Say Yes to the Dress. She married Bowen on the 15th September 2018 in Essex.
After finding love on the popular reality TV show, life for the 2016 runners up has been fast-paced with the pair getting engaged last Christmas in New York, a couple of days before Olivia’s birthday, buying their new “dream home” together and Alex recently launching his own clothing brand, MVMNT.
In an intimate video interview Alex commented: “It was the most nerve wracking time of my life. I had to get the ring through customs; then they swapped my bag with Olivia’s and she’d gone to open it! I was shaking.
We went for a little drink first – I’d hired out a rooftop for the occasion. Went outside onto the deck Olivia actually thought it was all for her birthday.” Oliva chimed: “I cried straight away!” and Alex continued: “Then as I got the ring out, she just said YES, YES, YES, YES!”
Despite their new-found fame and public profile, both stars have opened up about their struggles with confidence and their personal insecurities about glasses having worn them for 15 years and 12 years respectively.
Poor eyesight is also something the pair share – ‘Another weird thing about me and @ab_bowen07 our prescriptions are near on the exact same #soulmates’ commented Oliva on Twitter.
However, before their wedding the pair chose to tackle this issue, both opting to have laser eye surgery before they began the next chapter of their lives together.
Speaking about the experience, Alex said: “So we’re getting married, have a business and we definitely don’t do things by halves. I’m excited to start swimming, without having to wear contacts. It sounds like such a cliché, but it really does change your life.”
Olivia continued: “I had butterflies before the surgery but it went really quick and straight after it I could already start to see things clearly. We’ve got the wedding coming up and we’re really excited for the next year. More holidays I think. We’ll be able to see the beach in HD!”
