James Andrew Arthur is a British singer and songwriter who won the ninth series of The X Factor in 2012. His debut single, “Impossible”, was released by Syco Music after the final and debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart in its first week of release.
The ‘X Factor’ winner decided to have the procedure to correct his vision after wearing glasses and contact lenses for much of his life.
The 26-year-old star admitted it took him ”longer than normal” to recover, but claims he can now see perfectly
He added: ”Because I had a large prescription it’s taken longer than normal to recover but I’m now seeing 20|20!”
James shocked fans on the ITV reality series in 2012 when he was given a makeover on the show and ditched his signature black rectangle spectacles in favour of contacts.
He admitted at the time: ”I only wore the glasses because I didn’t have any contact lenses. And I just wore NHS glasses, it wasn’t a style thing. That was me not being vain, wearing the most ridiculous pair of glasses I could find.”
James Arthur talks about his experience.
“Thanks to Dr Jonathan Carr and the team at Optical Express for their care and making the whole process of getting laser surgery so straightforward. It is so amazing to have 20|20 vision!“
How does it feel to have been crowned the best ever X Factor winner? What an achievement!
It’s fantastic. I worked hard whilst on the show and it’s the ultimate sense of achievement to see my efforts pay off and be crowned best ever winner!
Are you still in touch with your fellow X Factor contestants?
Yes, I speak to them all as much as I can as we are all so busy nowadays.
This year was your first performance at V Festival. How was it?
It was absolutely incredible; the crowd were unbelievable and gave me a brilliant reception.
Do you have any sort of good luck token or habitual routine that you go through before you perform?
I just breathe in deeply and then breathe out any anxious feeling I might have.
You’re always looking pretty trendy, what’s your style inspiration?
I’m just me I don’t really watch anyone else.
What sort of music are you hoping to produce for your next album?
I will be maintaining a level of soul that I guess people have come to expect from me, but for this project it will be mixed with some of my rock influences.
When might we hear some new music from you?
I hear you’ve been into Optical Express for Laser Eye Surgery, what made you want to consider undertaking laser eye surgery?
I was overusing my contact lenses. Sometimes I would wear them for an entire 24 hours which is incredibly bad for your eyes. I made an investment for the future with my decision to have laser eye surgery. It makes life much easier.
How does it feel to have 20|20 vision?
It feels really great!
